The Heart & Craft Behind the Crunch.

who we are

True North Kettle Corn began in Chilliwack, B.C. — a small town nestled in the beautiful Fraser Valley, just 100 km east of Vancouver. Founded on January 1, 2011, it started as a proudly family-run business with a humble passion for crafting kettle corn the old-fashioned way: with heart, heritage, and a whole lot of hand-stirring.

What began as a local favourite quickly grew into something more — a tradition worth sharing far and wide.

Our inspiration comes from the days of the Ol’ West, when farmers and cowboys would unwind after a long day's work by tossing corn kernels into cast iron kettles over an open flame, adding whatever sweetener they had on hand — honey, molasses, even maple. The result? A crackling, golden treat that was as satisfying as it was simple.

At True North Kettle Corn, we honour that same spirit. Every batch of our kettle corn is made with just four ingredients: premium NON-GMO corn kernels, canola oil, sugar, and salt. That’s it. No additives. No preservatives. No butter. Just clean, crunchy goodness in every bite — a modern take on a time-tested classic.

In May 2025, True North Kettle Corn entered a new chapter under the ownership of Victoria and Kelly. With a shared love for tradition and a fresh vision for the future, they’re committed to keeping the brand’s heritage alive — while continuing to grow its presence across B.C. and beyond.

So go ahead — uncover the flavor, embrace the tradition, and taste the difference in every handful. We can’t wait to share it with you.

How the Magic Pops

  • We start with a gleaming stainless steel kettle, heated over an open flame — blending time-honoured tradition with modern craftsmanship.

  • Once the kettle is hot, we add:

    • NON-GMO corn kernels

    • A touch of canola oil

    • The perfect amount of sugar

  • As the heat rises, the sugar melts and caramelizes, coating each kernel as it pops.

  • The batch is hand-stirred constantly to ensure even popping and to prevent burning.

  • When the popping slows, we:

    • Add a dash of salt to balance the sweet

    • Quickly pour the kettle corn onto a cooling table

    • There, it’s sifted to remove excess shells

  • It’s spread out to cool naturally, locking in that signature crunch.

  • Once cooled, the popcorn is:

    • Carefully portioned

    • Bagged fresh

    • Boxed and shipped to stores, markets, and homes
